Ex-GOP insider questions Trump's 'motivations' with 'shipping magnate' conspiracy theory
A former Republican insider on Saturday questioned the motivations of Donald Trump, citing seemingly "arbitrary" moves the President-elect has been making.
Brendan Buck, a former key adviser to ex-House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), appeared on MSNBC over the weekend and was asked about Trump's recent "bizarre" proposals, such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico "Gulf of America."
Buck replied with some conspiratorial thinking about how these things are coming up in the first place.

"The thing I'm wondering about is where does all of this come from? How does Panama slip into your talking points at Mar-a-Lago when you're giving a speech? Is there some type of shipping magnate that is hanging around Mar-a-Lago that has gotten his attention?" Buck asked. "I know Greenland has been on his map for a long time, but I'm more curious as to the motivation behind all of these things, because they're more arbitrary and bizarre than anything else."
He continued:
"Look, I don't think we need to worry too much about our relationship with with Denmark. We're going to be okay. But it does tell me that he has a very imperialist view of the world."
Buck added, "Maybe we don't appreciate that because he presents himself as this isolationist sometimes."
