ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Marshals captured a wanted man in Albany in connection with a 2017 homicide in New York City. Dean Boland was wanted by the New York City Police Department on a Kings County indictment warrant.

Boland and his brother, Rasheed Boland, are believed to be responsible for the shooting death of Dustin Hackley in Brooklyn on July 11, 2017, said U.S. Marshals. Rasheed Boland was previously arrested in Texas.

During the investigation, law enforcement found that Dean Boland was hiding in the Capital Region, which led investigators to a home in Albany. The U.S. Marshalls said Boland surrendered to them on Thursday morning.

The indictment warrant carries the following charges:

  • Second-degree murder
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Second-degree assault

Boland is being transported to New York City for processing. U.S. Marshalls said he is expected to go before a judge in New York City later on Thursday.

“The coordination and collaboration that occurred across several different agencies to capture this homicide suspect is a testament to the partnerships developed and strengthened over many years of service,” said David McNulty, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of New York.
