English dominates education in Finland as Swedish skills decline
A new review of language policy trends in Finland has highlighted the growing dominance of English in education and the decline of Swedish proficiency among Finnish speakers. The Language Policy Year 2023 report, published by the Institute for the Languages of Finland, explores issues affecting Finnish, Swedish, Sámi, Finnish Sign Language, Finland-Swedish Sign Language, and Romani.
