Yedlimar De Jesus to play College Baseball in the United States
The Puerto Rico Women's Baseball League Loba de Arecibo rookie Yedlimar de Jesús committed to Monroe College, New York, in Region 15 of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), becoming the first Puerto Rico native to compete with men in the United States.
Seventeen-year-old De Jesus, nicknamed La Niña (the kid), contributed to the Lobas' undefeated run in the Puerto Rican league. She didn't allow a run out of the bullpen while striking out 11.
"I am very grateful and happy to say that I will make my university commitment to Monroe College NJCAA D1. I will be studying and playing baseball at the university, and I will do my best to continue learning," De Jesus wrote on social media. "I am grateful for this opportunity and blessing God gave me to follow my goals. Grateful to the people who were always in the process and those who never doubted me."
