China discovers cluster of new mpox strain

Chinese health authorities have detected a new mutated mpox strain, clade Ib, spreading after WHO declared a global public health emergency. The infection began with a foreigner who had traveled from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Symptoms are mild, and the virus spreads through close contact, including sexual contact.
