US new car sales rose to five-year high in 2024, helped by hybrids

DETROIT, Michigan: U.S. new-car sales reached 15.9 million in 2024, marking a 2.2 percent increase from the previous year and the highest total since 2019, according to Wards Intelligence.

Replenished inventories, higher incentives, and a surge in hybrid vehicle demand fueled the growth, despite waning interest in electric vehicles (EVs).

Automakers anticipate strong sales in 2025 but remain cautious abou
