Aubrey Plaza Calls Husband’s Death an ‘Unimaginable Tragedy’
On Monday, Aubrey Plaza released a statement about her husband, Jeff Baena, who died by suicide last week at 47. “This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Plaza and Baena’s family said. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Baena, an indie filmmaker who directed The Little Hours and Spin Me Round, often worked with Plaza. They started dating in 2011 and got married in May 2021. In 2019, Plaza spoke with People about their professional and romantic relationship. “One of the great things about our careers is that we are forced to be independent, take little breaks, go off and do our things and come back,” she said. “Nothing is ever the same. You don’t want to spend too much time apart.”
