Nikki Glaser Reveals 3 Edgy Jokes Cut From the Golden Globes

0

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Monday, Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser revealed the jokes about Nicole Kidman, Ben Affleck, and Alec Baldwin that were cut from the broadcast. Glaser received much praise for her hosting job, which many critics said walked a tightrope between light roasting and a genuine reverence for show business. But some of her cut material might have upset this balance, depending on viewers' taste.

Speaking to Stern, Glaser unleashed the jokes from her so-called “Stern File,” where she and her writers placed jokes that were too ribald for national television and could only be shared with the former shock jock. First up was a relatively benign jab at Babygirl nominee Kidman: “The Wild Robot is nominated tonight—and by that I mean Nicole Kidman after two white wines,” Glaser cracked. “I wish we could have done that, but if she makes a face…” Glaser explained of the cut, but added she thought Kidman would’ve been “cool with” the gag.

Glaser came slightly harder for Affleck, roasting his recent marriage troubles. “Here’s Ben Affleck. I can’t wait to see which Jennifer you try to ruin next,” the comedian read to Stern. Of course, Glaser did joke about Affleck during the telecast, but it was a bit more chaste than her cut line. “Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch—these are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms. These are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight,” Glaser joked during her monologue.

But she saved the most gasp-inducing joke for Baldwin, who is just now returning to the spotlight after his prolonged trial in the accidental shooting death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. “Michael Keaton was so great in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” Glaser began. “And Alec Baldwin sadly did not come back to play a ghost because he was too busy making them.” Immediately, Glaser issued a mea culpa. “Please know that I know that was not nice,” she said. “It’s such a great joke, but it’s just too mean.”
