Zooey Deschanel Reveals the Unique Skill She’s Teaching Her Kids: ‘There Comes a Time'

0

Zooey Deschanel just posted the most Zoeey Deschanel post, and we mean that in the best possible way. The cool and quirky mom is doing what all cool and quirky moms do — teaching her kids cool and quirky skills.

The New Girl alum shared a photo on Instagram that shows the back of her kids Elsie and Charlie who she shares with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. The two are facing her and seem to be staring with rapt attention. Elsie, 9 is rocking a Santa hat, and her 7-year-old little brother almost has his arm wrapped around her. (Really it looks like he just wanted to lean it on the kitchen counter, but we’d rather think he was going in for a sibling squeeze!)

Most notably, they look so grown up — even from behind! “Omg they are enormous ???????????? the time flies very fast,” one follower said.

In front of the “enormous” kiddos is Deschanel. She has a surprised look on her face and both hands up in front of her.

“There comes a time where every parent must teach their children to mime,” she captioned the post. And her black-and-white outfit and shocked expression really do make it look like she’s a mime who’s found herself trapped in a box. So, she either was teaching them how to mime, or this is a candid for which she found the perfect caption. And, honestly, we love both options!

Followers were applauding Deschanel’s, er, handiwork. “This is so good!!!” one follower said. Another added, “No one better to teach humor and acting without words!”

“Yours did? Not mime,” another joked.

In November, Deschanel spoke with SheKnows about motherhood and how it’s “very all-encompassing.”

“It’s like, when I said before, ‘You’re a mom, you’re not dead,’ but like, sometimes you feel dead, you know?” she tells SheKnows exclusively. “The end of the day is — sometimes I’ll have makeup all over my face. Like, mascara’s traveling down my face and my skin looks gray. I’m like, ‘What happened to me?’”

“ … You get so focused on your kids that you kind of forget about everything,” she continues.

But even when she has runny mascara and colorless skin, Deschanel says her kids are her “number one, most important thing.”

“I’m not worried about making time for the kids, because they get all the time,” she says. “They end up being first priority for me, always.”
