Troy's Knickerbacker Ice Rink grand reopening this Friday
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Troy City Hall announced the grand reopening of the Knickerbacker Ice Rink in Troy is happening on Friday. Mayor Carmella Mantello and County Executive Steve McLaughlin will be present for a ribbon cutting.
The arena was originally shut down in 2018 due to maintenance issues with ice making gear and piping, but the city of Troy and Rensselaer County teamed up to refresh the ice rink and now it's ready for the public.
Free open skating will be at 5 p.m., the reopening ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m., a youth hockey game will begin at 6:45 p.m., and then free open skating will resume at 8 p.m. The ice rink is at 103rd Street and Seventh Avenue in Troy.
