Billionaire Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, lives in one of the most expensive private homes in the world, the Antilia in Mumbai, a grand 27-storey mansion spread across 4,532 square meters, or 1.120 acres of land on the Altamount Road in Mumbai’s Cumbala Hill. But did you know there is another towering skyscraper on the posh Altamount Road, adjacent to Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia. Let us find out who lives in this giant building, who owns it and more.

The building we are talking about is the Lodha Altamount, a luxury residential tower built by the Lodha Group. The Lodha Altamount is located on the posh Forjett Hill Road in Gowalia Tank, Tardeo, Altamount Road, opposite Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s Rs 15,000 crore lavish mansion.

The Lodha Altamount is designed as a multi-storey apartment building with a total of 43 floors and 52 residential units. Its built by the Lodha Group, which is owned by politician and property magnate Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who founded the group in Mumbai in 1980.

Who is Mangal Prabhat Lodha?

Mangal Prabhat Lodha, is a billionaire politician and property magnate who established developer Lodha group in Mumbai in 1980, now known as Macrotech Developers.

A Rajasthan native, Mangal Lodha started his property business by building middle-class homes in suburban Mumbai, and later progressed to developing luxury apartments and other lavish properties, including the Trump Tower in Mumbai, a a 75-story luxury skyscraper, located in a complex called The Park, in midtown Mumbai.

Lodha Group went on expansion spree in 2003, acquiring prime land parcels, when Mangal’s sons Abhishek Lodha and Abhinandan Lodha, joined the business.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha is one of the richest men in India, boasting a net worth of $12 billion, as of January 5, 2025, according to Forbes.

Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s Antilia

Mukesh Ambani, along with wife, Nita Ambani, mother Kokilaben Ambani, and other family members –including his two sons Anant Ambani, Akash Ambani, their spouses, Radhika Merchant Ambani, Shloka Mehta Ambani, and their children– live in the Antilia, a 27-storey mansion on Mumbai’s posh Altamount Road.

Named after an island in Spain, Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia is estimated to be worth Rs 15,000 crore, and was designed by Perkins and Will, an American architecture firm, who incorporated anti-earthquake features into the building. According to details, the Antilia is designed to withstand earthquakes of up to 8.0 on the Richter scale.

The grandeur of the Antilia can be gauged from the fact that each floor of the 27-storey building features a different floor plan and design, with its interiors adorned with Lotus and Sun shapes.

Altamount Road

Both Antilia and Lodha Altamount are located on the ultra upscale Altamount Road, wealthy residential street in south Mumbai, which has been dubbed as Billionaires Row as some of the country’s wealthiest people, including the Ambani family, live in the area.

Altamount Road boasts some of the highest real estate prices in India.
