EAGLE-EYED fans are convinced that Luke Littler injured himself as he celebrated becoming world champion.

The 17-year-old made history as the tournament’s youngest ever winner by hammering Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in last night’s final.

Littler was overcome with emotion on stage as he was presented with the iconic Sid Waddell trophy and a cheque worth a whopping £500,000.

The Nuke was handed the huge gong by six-time Olympic cyclist champion Chris Hoy and lifted it towards fans.

But later on in his celebrations, photographers swarmed to get a picture of the new king of darts.

And Littler could be seen balancing the trophy on his knee before worryingly going down on the floor.

He picked himself up again after a brief moment of concern, but fans were convinced the teenage sensation had hurt himself.

One viewer wrote on social media: “Littler holding his knee as he’s injured it lifting the trophy, thought he was about to get down on it and ask double 10 to marry him.”

Another added: “Did Littler just f*** his knee?”

A third speculated: “Wait did Littler hurt himself celebrating???”

It turns out Littler was just struggling to lift the heavy award.

A source told SunSport: “He was resting the trophy on his knee and was just surprised at the weight of it.”

He eventually put it down and told Sky Sports: “I can’t believe it. Honestly. I can’t believe it.

“We both played so well. I knew I needed to get off to a great start, and that’s what I did.

“Michael was right behind me the whole game.

“Everyone dreams of lifting this trophy. So it really is a dream come true.

“I could end 2025 winning absolutely nothing. But I picked up the best.

“I want to get more than 10 titles this year. But if I end 2025 with nothing, I have picked the big one up.”
