Congestion pricing to go into effect in NYC after judge's ruling

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Congestion pricing will go into effect in New York City on Sunday as planned after a federal judge denied New Jersey's request for a temporary restraining order to stop it.

"Congestion pricing goes live this Sunday -- Saturday night midnight going into Sunday -- as planned," MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber said at a news conference Friday night after Judge Leo Gordon's decision.

Randy Mastro, the attorney for the State of New Jersey, said he will appeal the decision.

Under the congestion pricing plan, cars entering New York City’s central business district below 60th Street in Manhattan will be charged a $9 toll once per day.
