DOCCS release names of those suspended in Robert Brooks case
MARCY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) has released the names of those allegedly involved in the fatal beating of Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility. Fourteen people have been suspended without pay or have resigned.
"Based on the evidence gathered in the ongoing investigations into the tragic death of Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility, Governor Hochul directed DOCCS Commissioner Martuscello to begin the termination process of those involved," said DOCCS in a statement.
Those suspended without pay or have resigned are:
- Sgt. Michael Mashaw
- Sgt. Glenn Trombly
- CO Matthew Galliher
- CO Nicholas Anzalone
- CO David Kingsley
- CO Nicholas Kieffer
- CO Robert Kessler
- CO Michael Fisher
- CO Christopher Walrath
- CO Michael Along
- CO Shea Schoff
- CO David Walters
- Nurse Kyle Dashnaw
- CO Anthony Farina (resigned before suspension/termination)
Robert Brooks suffered multiple horrific injuries and died after being beaten as an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility, according to court paperwork. On Thursday, The New York Attorney General's Office recused itself from the investigation and named Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick as a special prosecutor in this case.
