Samsung’s ‘AI fridge’ has cameras to ‘order food when you’re low’ and giant built-in TV with free channels and movies
SAMSUNG’S smart fridges will soon be brainy enough to help you restock your fruit and veg.
If you’re running low on something, a combination of cameras and AI can sort you out with a fresh delivery.
Samsung’s smart fridges are being upgraded with an auto-shopping feature[/caption] Cameras inside the fridge use AI to identify what items you’ve had – and when they’re gone[/caption]It’s part of a major upgrade to the Samsung Bespoke series of refrigerators.
These brainy fridges come equipped with smart tech, including a 32-inch telly.
But Samsung has revealed an even more impressive feature: robotic restocking.
Samsung has teamed up with delivery app Instacart so that the fridge can shop for you.
The tech giant says that it can use built-in cameras and AI to recognise the food in your fridge.
Instacart can then match these foods with its own products, and add them to your cart.
If you’re happy with the restock, you can sign it off and get it delivered on the same day.
“We’ve all dreamt of a refrigerator that could replenish itself,” said Daniel Danker, Instacart’s product chief.
“Now thanks to this partnership with Samsung, that’s no longer the stuff of science fiction.”
Daniel added: “Samsung Bespoke refrigerator owners will be able to place grocery orders and easily restock empty fridge shelves via same-day delivery through Instacart from their favourite local grocery retailers.”
This major upgrade will first appear on Samsung’s 2025 series of Bespoke refrigerator models.
And then it will eventually roll out to existing Samsung AI Family Hub fridges too.
This will come as an over-the-air update at some point “during 2025”, Samsung says.
The catch is that this is a US-only feature for now, as Instacart isn’t available in the UK.
There are several options for Samsung smart fridges depending on what you’re looking for – with the top model touting a 32-inch screen on the outside[/caption]But it’s possible that a similar feature could appear on more refrigerators around the world in the future.
“Samsung is working tirelessly to enable a more convenient home experience for our users with innovative technologies,” said Samsung’s consumer boss Jeong Seung Moon.
Jeong described the fridge as offering “a new level of convenience”.
These TVs also feature large 32-inch screens that can serve up free telly.
WHAT IS SAMSUNG TV PLUS?
Here's what you need to know...
Samsung TV Plus is a free telly streaming service that’s available on Samsung devices.
The company boasts that the app offers over 300 live TV channels.
And it also promises “thousands of movies and shows on demand”.
The benefit of Samsung TV Plus is that it’s totally free, with the service supported by ads instead of monthly fees.
So where can you get it?
Samsung explains: “Samsung TV Plus is available for free on 2016 – 2023 Samsung Smart TVs, Galaxy devices, Smart Monitors, Family Hub refrigerators, and the web.”
The service offers content across genres like news, entertainment, and sports.
And Samsung says that some channels are even available in 4K Ultra HD.

That’s because they come equipped with Samsung TV Plus, which has a vast selection of free live channels.
And the app also hosts loads of on-demand movies and TV shows too.
It’s the same telly service that you’d find on regular Samsung TVs, as well as Samsung smartphones and tablets.
You can also use the built-in screens to show the news or weather, and add notes to it for your family.
You can use Samsung’s fridges to watch telly, store notes, or catch up on the news[/caption]Sadly the high cost of one of these refrigerators will set you back thousands.
A Samsung Bespoke Refrigerator with AI Family Hub costs around $4,999 ~ that’s around £4,000 at current exchange rates.
