Collision with Columbus police cruiser kills one

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person has died after a vehicle crashed into a police cruiser in west Columbus early Friday morning.

According to police dispatch, one person was hospitalized with life-threatening injures after their vehicle crashed into a Columbus Division of Police cruiser in front of Hilltonia Middle School, on West Mound Street in the South Central Hilltop area.

Police say an officer was rammed into just after 5 a.m. and the driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital. The driver was pronounced dead at 5:57 a.m. The officer was described as stable.
