‘I don’t get why…’: Sanjay Manjrekar’s shocking comment on Rohit Sharma’s decision to opt out of Sydney Test

The Indian team for the test match against Australia has seen the exclusion of skipper Rohit Sharma. Jasprit Bumrah came to captaincy in the final match of the five-match Test series. During the toss, Bumrah stated that Rohit Sharma had made the decision to rest himself.

There was a lot of talk on this topic in the past few days, as Rohit had a low patch of below-par performance, scoring just 31 runs in three games. However, this did not sit well with Former Indian cricketing legend Sanjay Manjrekar.

Sanjay made a shocking remark after Jasprit Bumrah’s announcement on Rohit’s decision to opt himself out. Manjrekar stated that Rohit is not all-time great like that of Virat Kohli, who would keep his exclusion mysterious.

“Rohit is not an all-time great to keep his exclusion mysterious. I can understand if it’s Virat Kohli. But Rohit has played 60-odd Tests with one overseas century and an average of just 40. I don’t get why it should be so mysterious,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

To make chance for in-form batters to play in the final Test match in Sydney, Bumrah called Rohit as “Our Captain”, as he claimed that the skipper had made this selfless decision to keep himself out from the playing XI.
