3 victims of New Orleans terror attack have ties to tri-state area

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Three of the 14 victims of the terror attack in New Orleans have ties to the tri-state area.

They were 25-year-old Billy DiMaio of Holmdel, New Jersey, who was working as an account executive for Audacy in Lower Manhattan; 25-year-old Matthew Tenedorio, a Long Island native who was working at the Superdome; and 27-year-old Tiger Bech, a Princeton University football alum who was working as a junior trader in Midtown.

DiMaio was renting an apartment in Hoboken, and his barber, Bernie Torbio, told PIX11 News that DiMaio was "really excited" to be going on a trip to New Orleans with his roommate. Tobrio said, "He was a cool guy, being around, very friendly."

DiMaio started working for media company Audacy in 2023. In a statement, an Audacy spokesman said, "Beyond his professional achievements, Billy will be fondly remembered for his unwavering work ethic, positive attitude, and kindness. He was a true asset to the Audacy team, and his contributions and presence will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with Billy's family and friends during this exceedingly difficult time, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them and every member of the Audacy family who had the privilege of working with him.”

Tenedorio's parents said they had just had New Year's Eve dinner with their son and urged him not to go down to Bourbon Street for the night.

Cathy and Louis Tenedorio said, "You know, I'll see something that reminds me of him, and I'll break down. I know that's going to happen, probably for the rest of my life. So sad that it came to such a tragic end. Yes. He was only 25. Senseless."

Bech, who graduated from Princeton University after playing on their football team, was working at Seaport Global Holdings, LLC.

Marty Cannon, one of Bech's former high school football coaches, told PIX11 News, "I got to see him right before Christmas, and he was telling me about his work in New York and how that it was taking off, and he was excited. Tiger was going to be great at anything. He was on his way and sadly that won't happen."
