Meghan Markle Is Going Back to Her Roots With Her New Netflix Series

0

Meghan Markle was ready and waiting for 2025! While her critics were speculating that her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, was floundering behind the scenes, the Duchess of Sussex was preparing to silence the trolls. She’s going back to her roots with territory that is comfortable and familiar to her — and Meghan shines brightly in this arena.

The trailer dropped on Thursday, Jan. 2 and it shows Meghan in her element. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on Jan. 15 and the scenes call back to her lifestyle blogger era with The Tig. The Duchess of Sussex shared the clip on her brand-new Instagram account with the enthusiastic caption, “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support — and fun! As ever, Meghan.”

Viewers can expect cameos from Mindy Kaling, former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, and her makeup artist and bestie Daniel Martin — and yes, there is at least a cameo by hubby Prince Harry. Netflix’s press release proclaimed that it was “a time for connection” as “Meghan invites friends old and new to roll up their sleeves and join her in the kitchen, garden, and beyond.” From the clip alone, the Duchess of Sussex looked so happy to be sharing this side of herself — far away from the negative narrative the British tabloids crafted for so long.

Fans got a hint that Meghan wanted to somehow revive The Tig in November 2022 when the Daily Mail unveiled her attempt to trademark her former blog’s name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She wanted to focus on five categories, “travel, interior design, food preparation, health and ‘wellness,’ and personal relationships.” This wasn’t the first time she attempted to protect her brand.

In 2019, a royal representative shared why Meghan made the legal move. “The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her,” they said. With the Duchess of Sussex now free from the restrictions of royal protocols, she can now explore an area of her career that feels like a natural fit.

Meghan’s show could be a hit before it even premieres and it might be the saving grace on their Netflix deal after the Sussexes failed to promote their reality series, Polo. The show didn’t make the streaming network’s Top 10 shows and will likely not see a second season — but With Love, Meghan, already has the smell of success.
