2 Buffalo men arrested for stealing thousands of dollars, car from warehouse

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Two men were arrested and charged earlier this week after thousands of dollars, a Chevrolet Silverado, and around 50 home furnaces were stolen from a warehouse on the East Side, the Buffalo Police Department announced.

The incident occurred on the 100 block of Dingens Street on Dec. 29.

A warehouse employee found an entrance door broken and the items stolen when they arrived to work the next day. The stolen Silverado was allegedly used by 44-year-old Jamaal Rice and 61-year-old Maxwell McCants to make return trips to steal more merchandise.

Four sets of car keys, two computers, a camera system hard drive, a pump jack, and two pieces of sheet metal were also stolen, officials said.

The stolen vehicle was tracked to a residence on the 100 block of Smith Street where it was believed the furnaces were brought to be distributed. Three of the furnaces have since been tracked. The Silverado was recovered on Wednesday.

Rice and McCants were charged identically with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

The investigation remains ongoing.
