10 people shot outside Queens night club on New Year's Day: NYPD

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least 10 people were shot outside a Queens night club on New Year's Day, according to the NYPD.

It happened at Amazura, on 144th Place in Jamaica, around 11:20 p.m., police said. Detectives told PIX11 News that a private event was being held at an upstairs space in the club, which was at capacity with 90 people.

Another 15 people were waiting in line outside, according to authorities. Three or four men walked toward the club and fired more than 30 times, injuring 10 people, police said.

All of the victims are under 20 years old, according to authorities. A 16-year-old boy was among those who were shot, police said.

They're expected to recover, according to authorities.

Police are searching for a gray Infiniti with New Jersey license plates in connection to the shooting, sources told PIX11 News.
