A SAINSBURY’s shopper was thrilled to find a roast dinner box for four – scanning at tills for £4.50, down from £45.

The Proper Christmas Box from the supermarket’s Taste the Difference range is billed as “buttermilk brined turkey served with all the trimmings”.

It contains slow-cooked turkey breast covered in bacon, chestnut and thyme stuffing and a turkey and chicken gravy.

It also comes with a selection of vegetable trimmings – from roast potatoes cooked in beef fat to parsnips and carrots in butter with honey, mustard and thyme.

The hefty roast dinner weighs in at 3.55kg – enough for a family of four.

To cook it, you simply place it in the oven for 55 minutes at at 200C or 180C fan.

Sharing the bargain on Facebook, the surprised shopper said: “Tomorrow’s dinner sorted.”

Impressed bargain hunters flooded the comments, with one saying: “Well done!! We got this in Romford yesterday, but for £11.45!! Still a big reduction however.”

A second shared that they too had bagged the deal, saying: “Got one today. Absolute bargain.”

It comes as the beloved supermarket giant slashes prices on a number of products as the festive period draws to a close.

One ecstatic shoppers shared reams of reduced gardening bits, including grow-your-own trees for just 1p.

They said: “Couldn’t resist popping down after seeing some of the posts to see if they had any plants at my local.

“Got some Christmas trees, bulbs for the garden and a couple of Cyclamen, rounded off with some grow your own trees which I spotted on the way to the checkout.

“All reduced to a penny each. Two of the trees had lights on them lol!”

Commenters rushed to share their own successes, with one saying they had spent a total of 38p on their gardening essentials.

The brand has also launched a sale on its homeware range, Habitat.

Shoppers can pick up numerous kitchen essentials for half price or less – with frying pans down from £20 to £10, cake tins down from £6 to £3, and whisks down £4 to £2.

There are also extensive reductions to the brand’s tupperware range – for those seeking to start the New Year organised.

Sainsbury’s Habitat sale includes four-packs of highball or tumbler glasses for £4.75 down from £9.50, the Scoville Neverstick Endurace 28cm Frying Pan for £10 down from £20, a 39cm oven tray for £3.50 down from £7 and a 20cm cake tin for £3 down from £6.

  • Nectar card deals

For those with a Nectar card, there are further reductions available. These include a selection of four beer bottles for £7, any five Heinz tins for £5, and Persil Laundry Detergent for £5 instead of £9.

There is also a “buy two get one free” deal available on makeup products, spanning brands like Maybelline, L’Oreal and Rimmel.

And those opting out of Dry Jan can be rewarded with various offers on alcohol products. The Sainsbury’s Clementine Bucks Fizz for £2.25 down from £4.50, McGuidan Sauvignon Blanc for £6 down from £10, and Taste the Difference Mulled Wine for £2.85 down from £6.
