These movies are some of 2025's most anticipated
With the vast majority of 2024 in the rearview mirror, it's time to start looking at the most anticipated films primed to take the silver screen in 2025. Full of adaptations, sequels, and reboots of beloved properties, viewers will not have difficulty finding something familiar to enjoy. These are just some of the most anticipated movies of 2025.
Captain America: Brave New World
Harrison Ford takes over the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from the late William Hurt as Anthony Mackie dons the shield in his first big-screen stint as Captain America. Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World is due in theaters on Feb. 14.
Disney's Snow White
This retelling of a 1937 Walt Disney Animation classic has been receiving much attention online as Rachel Zegler is set to star as the titular princess. Gal Gadot takes a villainous turn as the Evil Queen. Disney's Snow White will bow in theaters on Mar. 21.
A Minecraft Movie
Jason Momoa and Jack Black star in this adaptation of one of the most successful video games of all time. In "A Minecraft Movie," they must overcome the magical and unexpected world of Minecraft. The film will premiere on April 4.
Mickey 17
Bong Joon Ho, director of "Parasite," and "Snowpiercer" unites with Rober Pattinson to tell the story of Mickey Barnes, who works for an employer that demands its employees to make the ultimate commitment to the job: to die for a living. Mickey 17 hits the big screen on Apr. 18.
THUNDERBOLTS*
Marvel's cinematic universe continues as an unlikely group assembles to create the MCU's "least anticipated band of misfits." Florence Pugh returns as "depressed assassin" Yelena Belova alongside Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. THUNDERBOLTS* is due on May 2 in theaters.
Lilo & Stitch
In the live-action remake of a modern classic featuring the horribly adorable fugitive alien, Experiment 626, Lilo & Stitch stars Maia Kealoha, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, Zach Galifianakis, and features the return of the voice of Stitch from the 2002 film Chris Sanders. Lilo & Stitch will bow in time for Summer 2025.
Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning
Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt in the eighth Mission: Impossible entry. He is joined again by co-stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Vanessa Kirby, among others in the continuation of the espionage thriller that started with 2023's Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. It is due in theaters on May 23.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina
Set in the world of John Wick during the events of Chapter 3 of that popular franchise, Ana de Armas reprises her role as Eve Macarro, the deadly "Ballerina." Anjelica Huston joins in the Len Wiseman-directed action film due to hit theaters on June 6.
How to Train Your Dragon
Mason Thames and Gerard Butler star in this live-action retelling of the original story that started the "How to Train Your Dragon" franchise. Directed by Dean DeBlois, who also directed the 2010 classic, the reimagining will be released on June 13.
F1
Not much is known about F1. Brad Pitt stars in the film about the fast-paced, high-risk sport of Formula 1 racing. Scenes for the forthcoming movie were shot at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, and the film is set for theaters in Summer 2025.
Jurassic World Rebirth
Taking us back to the Jurassic Park universe, Jurassic World Rebirth brings together Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali in the latest chapter of the story that started 22 years earlier. Jurassic World Rebirth opens July 2 in theaters.
Superman
Director James Gunn's new DC Universe reimagines the Man of Tomorrow, portrayed by David Corenswet. Also starring Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Superman will be released in theaters on July 11.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Marvel's first family unites for the first time in the MCU in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic action-adventure starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular Fantastic Four. Their "First Steps" will be taken on July 25.
Freakier Friday
22 years after the beloved 2003 film, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite to bring a new Freaky Friday to a new generation. The story picks up years after the original film's supernatural identity crisis, as Curtis and Lohan's characters find themselves in a familiar predicament. Freakier Friday is due in theaters on Aug. 8.
TRON: Ares
The follow-up to Tron: Legacy will finally be released in 2025, as the story of the digital world introduced in 1982's Tron continues into a new decade. Starring Jared Leto, the film follows a "highly sophisticated" Program, Ares, sent from the digital world into the real world, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. TRON: Ares hits the big screen on Oct. 10.
Wicked: For Good
The second act of 2024's hit musical Wicked will take to the silver screen in 2025. Recently christened "Wicked: For Good," the film will finish the story of misunderstood "wicked" witch Elphaba, Glinda, the good witch of the north, and the returning cast of characters from the first film. The story of Wicked concludes on Nov. 21.
