China raises salaries for government workers to boost spending

China has increased the basic salaries of many government employees by at least 500 yuan per month. This raise has been backdated to July. The percentage increases varied, with some being roughly 5%. The last public hike in civil servants' wages was in 2015. Social media users suggested salary boosts also occurred in 2018 and 2021.
