Dr. Mahreen Kazi, wife of IAS officer Athar Amir Khan, recently shared a heartwarming photo with their six-month-old son, Ehan, in front of a Christmas tree. The couple had earlier announced the birth of their child on Instagram. While many followers appreciated the sweet moment, others took to social media to criticize her, questioning why a Muslim would wish others “Merry Christmas.”

Dr. Mahreen, who hails from Kashmir, is an MD doctor and a social media influencer. In response to the trolls, she calmly defended her post, stating, “Standing near a Christmas tree or saying ‘Merry Christmas’ doesn’t change anyone’s religion. It’s a gesture of goodwill and love. Let’s embrace unity and kindness, which transcends all religions. I wish peace and happiness to everyone.”

Some users even suggested that she read the Quran, to which she replied, “There is no verse in the Quran that forbids Muslims from wishing Christians ‘Merry Christmas.’ Interpretations of Islam may differ, but my faith is a personal matter between me and Allah. It’s not for anyone to judge.”

She further emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, not hatred or narrow-mindedness. “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) set an example of compassion for all people of different faiths. Celebrating others’ happiness doesn’t diminish my identity as a Muslim. It reflects the strength of my belief in humanity and the core values of Islam.”

In closing, Dr. Mahreen posed a thought-provoking question: “Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves what defines a good Muslim — judging others, or embracing kindness?”

Dr. Mehreen Qazi, has garnered attention for her multifaceted career and active presence on social media. A native of Kashmir, like her husband, she holds a Master’s in Medicine, a PG Diploma in Clinical Cosmetology from Great Britain, and a fellowship in Aesthetic Medicine from Denmark.

In June 2024, Athar Aamir Khan and Dr. Mehreen Qazi joyfully announced the arrival of their baby boy. The couple shared the happy news on Instagram, expressing their gratitude with the message, “Almighty has blessed us with a baby boy!” Their followers quickly filled the comment section with warm blessings and congratulations, celebrating the couple’s new arrival.
