Andy Cohen on Anderson Cooper's Most Annoying New Year’s Eve Trait
Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper will be hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live in New York City for the eighth consecutive year on Tuesday night. The tradition that has become beloved among viewers who love watching the two old friends let loose to usher in the new year. But given their more than two-decade-long friendship, fans also love watching the pair push each other's buttons.
While speaking with People recently, Cohen was asked what the "most annoying" thing about co-hosting the cable news event with Cooper.
"Well, [it’s] that I have to be the straight guy," the 56-year-old admitted. "Literally, he's in a puddle of giggles for the last 90 minutes of the broadcast, and I'm the one that's hitting all the commercial breaks."
"I kind of turn into Mr. CNN for the last 90 minutes, and he turns into Mr. Bravo. It's a very funny role reversal," Cohen added.
Cooper was recently asked the a similar question over on Cohen's Bravo talk show, Watch What Happens Live, when a call-in viewer wanted to know what "the most annoying thing about working with Andy on New Year's Eve."
"Just who he's gonna insult and what the clean up on aisle three is gonna be in the morning," Cooper quipped, to which Cohen chimed in, "Fair."
The veteran journalist was likely referring to the 2021 broadcast when Cohen was apparently "overserved" alcohol, leading to him calling ABC's competing live event hosted by Ryan Seacrest "a bunch of losers." He later apologized for the incident, telling Howard Stern a few days later that he really likes Seacrest. "He's a great guy and I really regret saying that and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it," he explained at the time.
In either case, it seems like Cohen and Cooper both have valid grievances.
