Strong winds knock out power to thousands in central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Sunday's strong winds and rain have left thousands without power.

As of 6:15 p.m., 8,866 AEP customers and 1,946 South Central Power customers are without service.

AEP is reporting 952 Franklin County customers remain without power. Perry, Hocking, and Meigs counties have the most AEP customers without power, with each reporting more than 1,000 customers. South Central is reporting most of its outages are in Fairfield and Hocking counties.

AEP is estimating most of the outages in Franklin County will be repaired by 9:30 p.m., while most of the Hocking County outages should be restored by 8 p.m.
