PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch issued for Acadiana

0

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - The newest Tornado Watch covers most of the western and central portions of Acadiana and is in effect through 9pm.

In fact, the only parishes not included are Iberia, St. Martin, and St. Mary.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) uses the 'Particularly Dangerous Situation' wording when the tornadoes expected could be widespread and/or strong. The text mentions the possibility of a few stronger (EF3+) tornadoes within the watch area. The greater chance of this will be along and north of I-10, however, a strong supercell in southeastern Texas, just south of Winnie, currently has a strong tornado on the ground. This cell will be working northeastward into Cameron parish within the hour. All of Acadiana, in and around this watch, will have to be on high alert through the next few hours.

Conditions will worsen through the next hour or so, with prime time to see storms being 5pm-9pm.
