The Golden State Warriors will play their final road game of the calendar year with Friday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. The game will be played at 7:00PM PT in Los Angeles and can be watched on NBA TV and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State is coming off gut-wrenching 115-113 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day. Despite the outcome, the Warriors put up a valiant effort, led by Stephen Curry’s season-high 38 points. He lit up the court with a dazzling 8-of-15 shooting performance from beyond the arc, including two clutch threes in the closing seconds that served as a reminder of his status as the greatest shooter in basketball history.

However, despite Curry’s heroics, it was the Lakers who came out on top thanks to a game-winning lay-up by guard Austin Reaves to cap off a 26-point night against the Warriors.

What to watch for tonight:
Golden State faces another challenge tonight as they take on the Clippers without Curry in the lineup. The Warriors’ leading scorer will sit out the front end of this back-to-back to manage a lingering knee injury. Additionally, Gary Payton II will be sidelined after sustaining a mild left calf strain during Wednesday’s game.
Steph Curry will not play in Los Angeles against the Clippers tomorrow night. Managing his knee tendinitis on the front side of a back-to-back. Warriors are at home vs Clippers on Saturday night. Draymond Green is questionable vs Clippers.

INJURY UPDATE: Warriors guard Gary Payton II, who exited last night’s game against the Lakers with 9:27 remaining in the fourth quarter, underwent an MRI earlier today. The MRI confirmed that Payton has suffered a mild strain of his left calf. He will be re-evaluated in one week.

Generating offense without Curry has been a season-long struggle for the Warriors. In his absence, they’ll have to turn to recently acquired point guard Dennis Schroder to step up.
Schroder is averaging 18.4 points this season on 45.2% shooting from the field and 38.7% from three. While he’s still acclimating to his new team, he showed flashes of his potential in the previous game after breaking double digit points for the first time as a Warrior on 3-of-6 shooting from deep. They’ll need his offense and more to keep pace in this one as the Clippers boasts the fifth-best defensive rating in the NBA.
