Two Pakistani police officers killed in Sindh attack

Security officials in Sindh, Pakistan, have confirmed that two police officers were killed in a gun attack by unknown assailants in the province. The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 25, in the Shikarpur area of Sindh.

According to Pakistani media reports, the two officers were in civilian clothes and were dining at a restaurant when they were attacked by armed assailants. The attackers opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Ziaul Hasan Lanjhar, Sindh’s Interior Minister, condemned the attack and emphasized the need to capture those responsible. He called for immediate action to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Following the shooting, the armed assailants escaped the scene, and police have launched an ongoing effort to track them down. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspects.

As of now, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, insurgent groups have been active in the region for several years, posing a significant security threat.

Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, expressed “grief and anger” over the incident and issued orders for the swift arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting. He vowed that justice would be pursued for the fallen soldiers.

Organized criminal groups have been active for decades in the riverine border areas of southern Sindh and central Punjab. These gangs frequently engage in armed attacks, abductions, and extortion, creating a significant security threat to the region.

The increasing violence and crime perpetrated by criminal organizations in these areas have raised concerns among local authorities about the safety and security of civilians. This attack is just the latest in a series of incidents that have put the public at risk.

According to statistics from the National Assembly of Pakistan, in the past ten months, at least 924 people have been killed, and 1,353 others have been injured in terrorist attacks across the country.
