Why two Evangelical bishops denounce ‘self-serving’ 2025 budget
MANILA, Philippines – Two prominent Evangelical bishops joined a recent prayer service to denounce the “self-serving” 2025 national budget that is up for the signature of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Bishop Noel Pantoja of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches and Bishop Efraim Tendero of the World Evangelical Alliance stood alongside other Christian leaders, including priests from the Roman Catholic Church and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, in this prayer service at EDSA Shrine on Monday, December 23.
In a press conference after the prayer service, Pantoja and Tendero explained why they joined this call for a “just budget” and “just nation.”
They also addressed perceptions that Evangelical Christians are often averse to political involvement.
