Oakland man dies in Christmas house fire after rescuing his family

A man in Oakland has died in a house fire after rescuing the rest of his family. Officials say the fire was sparked Christmas morning, and firefighters responded around 6:15 a.m. to the home in Oakland. A spokesperson for the Oakland Fire Department says the 37-year-old man had alerted his family to the fire and rescued his father and aunt as well as his brother. The man appeared to have died from smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears to be accidental.
