Family grieves loss of Woodward shooting victims

WOODWARD, Okla (KFOR) — It's been nearly three weeks since a father and his adult daughter were shot and killed in the parking lot of the Woodward Walmart.

Their family is now preparing to spend their first Christmas without their loved ones.

"It hurts a lot because when I was little, they used to take care of me like they were there more than my mom and dad were because they were always busy doing other stuff," said TK Mulbery, lost grandfather and aunt.

TK Mulbery says this holiday season is one she never could have imagined, as her grandfather and aunt were tragically taken from her.

"I was like this can't be happening, like, why?" said TK Mulbery.

Gary Mulbery and Alewine were shot and killed, while at a trip to Walmart.

Woodward Police Department says the suspect, Shane Allison, confessed to the shootings, allegedly motivated by an eviction threat from Gary Mulbery, who was dating his mother.

"She seemed friendly and nice and so I was shocked when I found out it was her son," said TK Mulbery.

As TK Mulbery prepares for a holiday without her aunt and grandfather, she's grateful for the outpouring of support from the community.

At only 19-years-old, she was left with arranging the funerals by herself.

"I was thinking, I'm still in school, this shouldn't be happening, I don't know what I'm going to do," said TK Mulbery.

With the help of a GoFundMe, a memorial bank account, and other donations, all expenses were covered.

Even with community support, the emotional toll remains heavy, not only for TK Mulbery, but also for the towns of Laverne and Woodward.

"When you have a small town like this, you know, we don't have homicides every day, we don't have them every year all the time. It's always a shock to the people here when something like this happens. A homicide is a shock enough, let alone a double homicide," said Captain Darren Navratil, Woodward Police Department.

Allison is in the Woodward County Jail without bond.

His next court date is on January 3 for his preliminary hearing.
