ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Lottery games such as the Mega Millions and Powerball made headlines for their big jackpots throughout the year. In the Capital Region, several winning lottery tickets were sold in 2024, with some residents publicly claiming their winnings.

Berkshire County woman wins $1M on scratch-off

A Berkshire County woman won $1 million on a scratch-off ticket. Marcia Paris of Lanesborough won on the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “300X” $30 instant ticket game.

Watervliet resident wins $1M on scratch-off ticket

A Watervliet resident claimed the top prize on a New York scratch-off ticket. Michael O’Brien of Watervliet won the $1 million prize on the New York Lottery’s Holiday Treasure game.

Johnstown resident wins $1M on scratch-off ticket

A Fulton County resident claimed a top prize on a scratch-off ticket. Gregory Kinowski of Johnstown won $1 million on the New York Lottery’s $1,000,000 Cashword Bonus scratch-off game.

Schenectady man wins $3M on scratch-off ticket

A Capital Region man claimed the top prize on a scratch-off ticket. John Terry of Schenectady won $3 million on the New York Lottery’s Xtreme Cash scratch-off game.

$1 million winning scratch-off ticket sold in Rensselaer County

A top-prize-winning Pink Panther Diamond 7’s scratch-off ticket was claimed in Rensselaer County, according to the New York Lottery. The ticket is worth $1 million. The top-prize ticket was sold at the Stewart’s Shops located at 2 River Street in Hoosick Falls. The winner, Ethan Benedict, of Petersburgh, reportedly opted for a one-time lump sum payment of $455,700, following all required withholdings.
