Troy Turkey Trot donates $20,000 to local charities
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The 2024 Troy Turkey Trot raised $21,000 to benefit two primary charities, the Regional Food Bank and Joseph’s House and Shelter Inc. On Monday, Event Director George Regan and Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello presented $10,000 checks to each organization.
According to event organizers, the 77th annual event attracted around 7,097 participants from 38 states and 7 different countries. The event features a 5K, 10K and a kid's mile.
At registration, participants are able to donate money towards ending hunger and homelessness across the Capital Region. According to the charity recipients, the donations will go a long way.
"Funding that’s fueling our outreach services van, which serves our street homeless population no matter the weather, funding that’s helping us expand our winter shelter capacity for our Code Blue program," Joseph’s House and Shelter Exec. Dir. Amy LaFountain said in November.
In 2023, the Troy Turkey Trot raised more than $22,000 for charities.
