U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.39 percent to 108.037 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.0412 U.S. dollars from 1.0445 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2535 dollars from 1.2599 dollars in the previous se
