'Truth always comes out': Florida Dems jab Matt Gaetz after Ethics report released
Florida Democrats declared Monday afternoon that an ethics investigation into former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) proves he shouldn't be on Capitol Hill.
The House Ethics Committee on Monday accused Gaetz of "regularly" paying women, including a 17-year-old girl, for sex as well as buying and using unlawful drugs when he was a congressman.
In a 37-page report, the committee found he participated in sex-filled parties and vacations and said he violated sexual misconduct state laws.
“The Committee determined there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress,” the report said.

Gaetz has consistently and vehemently denied all allegations against him.
Gaetz subsequently sued to block the release of the report and alleged it contained “untruthful and defamatory information” that would “significantly damage” his “standing and reputation in the community.” He said the panel has no jurisdiction since he resigned.
“The Committee’s position that it may nonetheless publish potentially defamatory findings about a private citizen over whom it claims no jurisdiction represents an unprecedented expansion of Congressional power that threatens fundamental constitutional rights and established procedural protections,” Gaetz’s lawyers said, according to PBS News.
Florida Democrats took the opportunity Monday afternoon to blast Gaetz following the report's release.
"The findings from the House Ethics Committee report confirm that Matt Gaetz belongs nowhere near the halls of Congress or in any other elected office. The truth always comes out in the end," they said in a Facebook post.
