'Enough is enough': GOP lawmaker slams missing colleague found living in 'nursing home'

0

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) attacked his Republican colleague, Rep. Kay Granger of Texas, for reportedly being found in an assisted living nursing home after she missed every vote since July 24.

During a Monday rant about a recent government funding bill, Burchett complained to Real America's Voice about spending to reconstruct Maryland's Francis Scott Key Bridge, which was destroyed in a disaster earlier this year.

"Dadgummit, they had insurance on that cargo ship that hit it," Burchett opined. "Now, why the heck are the American taxpayers putting more money into it?"

"You know, this is a crooked deal, and we've got to get a grasp on it, and we've got to realize that both parties are crooked," he continued. "You know, you've got to pay money, you've got to kiss a lot of rear to move up in committees and structure."

Burchett insisted that spending was the fault of "both parties."

"We just had a member, they found her in a nursing home, in a memory care nursing home, that was still drawing a check that's a Republican," he complained. "And we've got to address these issues."

"You've got to tell the American public, enough is enough."

Burchett also doubted that billionaire Elon Musk could curb spending with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

"And I'll tell you what, every dadgum one of those congressmen that's out there patting Vivek on the back and Elon saying, yeah, DOGE, yeah, DOGE, you better watch every dadgum one of them, because there'll be your tarmac boys," he claimed. "There'll be the ones out on the tarmac patting the president on the back, but they'll be the ones also sticking a knife in him."

The Dallas News reported last week that Granger was living in "a memory care unit" after missing dozens of votes.

"We then received a tip from a Granger constituent who shared that the Congresswoman has been residing at a local memory care and assisted living home for some time after having been found wandering lost and confused in her former Cultural District/West 7th neighborhood," the report said.
