Premier League midfielder chart shows how off-the-scale Dejan Kulusevski is
Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski is outdoing every other midfielder across the Premier League in two key stats.
Spurs man the most improved player in the PL?
It would be hard to look past Dejan Kulusevski when picking the most improved player across the Premier League this season.
The Swede had gone off the boil completely over the last two seasons after a bright first six months at Spurs, and there were even question marks over whether he was a good fit for Ange Postecoglou‘s system.
Those criticisms and questions seem utterly laughable now as Kulusevski has carried Tottenham on his back for much of the season, impacting games much more with the freedom afforded him to him by the central role.
Dejan Kulusevski’s ridiculous number
While Kulusevski is in a league of his own when it comes to a number of metrics this season, a new graph plotted by DataMB shows just how much better he has been than some of his peers in two key areas.
The data analysis platform have plotted the progressive runs and key passes of each Premier League midfielder this season, and no other player in the English top-flight even comes close to the Tottenham man.
Why Kulusevski is one of a kind
As this graph proves, it is very rare that attacking midfielders tend to be good at providing key passes as well as in progressive carries. They usually tend to be good at one or the other.
Kulusevski is the rare breed of attacker who is excellent at both, which makes him very hard to defend against.
The former Juventus man can go past you if you get too tight while he can pick out a great pass if you stand off him as a defender.
