90s rocker looks unrecognisable as he stuns Glasgow pub-goers by singing karaoke to his own hit song
A 90s icon looks a world away from what he did when he used to perform at festivals and gigs in the 90s and early noughties.
Singer Fran Healy might not be as widely known now, but in the 90s his soulful voice was one that many music fans would instantly recognise.
The Scottish singer was part of hit band Travis who shot to fame in the 90s for songs such as ‘Why Does It Always Rain On Me?’, ‘Sing’ and ‘Flowers In The Window’.
Healy, who fronted the four-piece band, has now stunned a pub full of drinkers in Glasgow as he took to the karaoke to perform a medley of his hits from the Brit award winning band.
Now sporting bright red dyed hair and glasses, Healy was supported by the crowd who sang along and joined in with tracks including the 1999 hit Why Does It Always Rain On Me?
Sharing a clip of his performance on social media, Healy wrote on X: “When in the Horseshoe Bar after 9pm… and they put your song on…”
Healy, who still performs with Travis, has joined his bandmates for a performance at Glasgow’s Hydro to loyal fans.
Travis shared the clip of Healy’s karaoke to their Instagram along with the caption: “When you’re having a pint in the @horseshoe_glasgow after 9pm and your song comes on…See you all at the Hydro tonight for the LAST SHOW OF THE YEAR!!!! COME ONNNNN!!! BRING YER SANTA HATS”.
Travis hit the music scene in 1997 with their debut album Good Feeling, which debuted at number nine on the UK Albums Chart.
Yet it was their 1999 hit song Why Does It Always Rain on Me? that became their big breakthrough hit and propelled them to fame.
In 2000, they won best group and best album at the Brit Awards for their second album titled The Man Who, which had spent nine weeks at number one.
In 2001, they released their third album, The Invisible Band, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.
The single ‘Sing’ from this album was the most played song on UK airwaves that summer.
Despite appearing to step back from the mainstream music scene, the band has continued making music in the past two decades.
The band has continued to release albums including 12 Memories (2003), The Boy with No Name (2007), Ode to J. Smith (2008), Where You Stand (2013), Everything at Once (2016), 10 Songs (2020), and L.A. Times (2024).
