I was on Rich Kids Go Skint and it was all a lie, they made us cover up our branded clothes & go to corner shops

A YOUNG woman has revealed how her family starred in Rich Kids Go Skint and claimed it was a ‘lie’.

Clea appeared on the show in 2018 with her mum Anna Nicholas and two younger siblings – but she said it wasn’t all what it seemed.

Taking to TikTok, she claimed: “So unfortunately our episode, it was all fake. As for the rest of the episodes, I don’t know how legit everyone else’s was.”

Cleo and her family took in rich kid Fergus Prutton for the episode but apparently, they tried to make her family appear poor.

The family were based in Croydon at the time, but she claims the TV show made them film scenes outside of the area.

“They obviously sent my mum to a corner shop in Heath.

“My mum doesn’t live in Heath and my mum doesn’t shop in corner shops.”

She also alleged that her mum was told to say she had a £40 budget for the week, something that didn’t happen off-camera in their regular lives.

While filming, she also claimed she was told off for wearing branded clothing to make them look worse off.

She added: “So I’ll start off with if I wanted to wear a basic brand, like if I had Nike on, they would be like, you can’t wear that or can you change it to something else?

“Or they would ask us to cover up or maybe put like a jacket on top of it. That’s why you wouldn’t really see us in any kind of branded clothes.”

Cleo also admitted that her family was not poor and had not signed up for the show.

She claims that her family was scouted in the streets.

“We got scouted whilst we were out,” she explained adding that the family were paid to be filmed.

“It was just very fake, very scripted,” she alleged.

“Like, my family is not poor, far from poor.”

The clips went viral over on her TikTok account @c.leocardiiaa with over 387k views and 18k likes.

People were stunned by her admission.

One person wrote: “I always used to think why did everyone on that show do their food shopping in corner shops lol.”

Another commented: “I totally believe this because everything on tv is so fake.”

“This is crazy whaaat,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I always question why the families shop on the local corner shop.”

“Did she get paid at least, why would your mum be subject to national humiliation for free?,” claimed a fifth.

“Yeah she got paid ofc & it wasn’t that humiliating. There’s a lot worse off people bedsides seeing a working single mum,” she replied.

Someone else added: “They try and push a narrative.”
