B&M shoppers can’t get enough of bargain buy scanning for 10p that’s perfect for Christmas

B&M shoppers are rushing out to grab a bargain buy ideal for Christmas dinner and scanning for only 10p.

The retailer has slashed prices on six festive-themed plates on its website, but also appears to be cutting prices in-store as well.

One shopper recently posted on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group after spotting novelty Christmas plates on sale for 10p instead of £3.50 – a whopping 97% discount – at their local branch.

The post has notched up over 200 likes and more than 100 comments from shoppers in shock at the cut-price deal.

One, tagging a friend, said: “No way! Why didn’t we see them earlier.”

Another commented “how good” while a third chipped in with “I need these lol”.

Of course, whenever buying something like this you should always check prices to see how it compares to other retailers.

You can do this through websites like Price Spy and Price Runner or quickly scan Google.

In this case, we couldn’t find the same product on sale at any other retailers, nor other chains selling any Christmas plates for less than 10p a pop.

Dunelm is selling one festive-themed plate for £2 and John Lewis another for £1.87, but that’s still at least £1.77 more than B&M.

Bear in mind too, you might not get the B&M Christmas plate for 10p at your local store, or at all.

Retailers are allowed to sell products for different prices across their store estate and can reduce items where they see fit.

That said, there is one way B&M shoppers can increase the likelihood of finding a 10p bargain on their next trip – the B&M Scanner app.

You can find your nearest B&M branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.

B&M SCANNER APP

The B&M scanner app can be downloaded for free on to your smartphone via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The app has a barcode price check feature which lets you scan product labels in-store to find out their true price.

It sometimes shows up products that have been slashed to just 10p.

The app also offers you a description of the product you are scanning.

How else to save money at B&M

The best time to get cut-price products is 10am on a Wednesday, according to one ex B&M manager.

This is when staff slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.

Keep an eye out for red sticker products as well, according to deals expert Tom Church.

These are put on special buy products that have been reduced in price.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
