UP registers second-highest green cover increase in country

Uttar Pradesh witnessed the second-largest increase in forest and tree cover in India, adding 559 sq km, according to the 2023 India State of Forest Report. The state's achievement follows Chhattisgarh, with Odisha also showing a similar increase. India's total forest and tree cover grew by 1,445 sq km, contributing to a larger carbon sink.
