A BRITISH woman who married a prisoner while he was in a US jail has shared her excitement about planning their future together as his release date approaches.

She’s been sharing updates on her TikTok page, ‘katiethenextchapter,’ where followers have flooded her with questions about her unique relationship.

In one video, Katie answered many of the most common questions, giving curious viewers a glimpse into her life with her husband.

She said: “Okay so so many people seem to want to know when Danny gets out of prison. Am I going to move there? Are we going to live together? What are we going do?

“Am I nervous? It’s not going to work out? So here is the plan as it stands.

“When Danny gets out of prison I’m going to go on a trip, a holiday.

“I’m going to spend some time with him in the real world, we’re going to enjoy ourselves and then I’m going to come home back to England

“And I might do a few more of those trips.”

Katie explained that she will also be bringing her dog Pablo along with her.

She continued: “If everything goes well that’s when we would look at me moving over there and going through an immigration process.

“Going through an immigration process takes about a year to two years so during that time I will probably still be back and fourthing it.

“There’s a number of reasons that we want to do it this way. It just seems the most sensible way of doing things.

“I think that it will be good for me to go over there, spend a little bit of time, see how we get on together, see how everything goes in the real world.

“We obviously will stay in the same apartment or house for that time so we can see what living together might feel like.”

Katie noted that Danny will also have “a lot of adapting to do” when he gets out as he has been in prison for a “long time.”

UK Prison Brides

  • Tracey Bottomley married double murderer Ernest Otto Smith in the US after meeting through a prison pen pal initiative. Tracey, from West Yorks, knew he had been given a life sentence with no possibility of parole
  • Rebecca Short, from Oxfordshire, told her family she was on holiday in the US in 2022. Little did they know she was marrying double murderer Manuel Ovate Jr, who was on death row
  • Paula Williamson, an actress who appeared on Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, married the infamous Charles Bronson in 2017 after they became penpals
  • Karen Charves married Kenny Richey while he was on death row in 2014. He had been convicted for starting a fire in 1986 that killed his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, aged two. Karen and Kenny’s union did not last and she claimed he was abusive.
  • Naomi Wise, from Essex, married Victor Oquendo, nicknamed Animal, while he was serving a 24-year prison term in a US jail. They split up in 2022 but have now rekindled their romance

She also explained that while she wants to “absolutely be there to support him” she “doesn’t want to smother him.”

Katie continued to say: “I also want him to have some independence. If he could have his way I absolutely would be over there living there by the time he’s out.

“That’s what Danny would want.

“You also have to bear in mind that to go through an immigration process with an immigration attorney in total you’re probably looking at about ten thousand dollars.

There’s only two feasible ways this can go and that applies to all relationships ever in the history of time

Katie

“I just want to be sure that I’ve gone over and we’ve tested the waters before I embark on that process. That’s a large chunk of change.

“If I was going with my heart I absolutely would just jump and do that but your head has to come into things somewhere along the way.

“I’m not nervous or anxious about it not working out.

“I’ve said the whole way through this that it will either work out or it won’t. There’s only two options.

“There’s only two feasible ways this can go and that applies to all relationships ever in the history of time. I’ve seen these relationships go both ways.

“Some work out some haven’t. I’m not going to sit here and worry about it if it doesn’t work out. If it’s not meant to be. It’s not meant to be.

“What is meant to be will be. However I do have a really good feeling about it. But no I’m not sitting here anxious and worrying that it’s not going to work out.

“There’s no point giving oneself an anxiety attack over nothing.

“But yeah hopefully that answers everyone’s questions about me moving there.

“It won’t be immediate and if it happens it will be after testing the waters and then hopefully I will move there and then we will live happily ever after. Pop out some kids.”

One asked: “What would you do for work? Also when you’re waiting for a visa / green card you can’t work. Would he work and support you both?”

And Katie replied: “I would just be visiting so I would keep my job I have now, if we did a cr1 visa once I wanted to move I wouldn’t have to be out of work on the USA side either.

“But he will be working, yes.”

A second also questioned: “Could/ would he consider moving to England?”

I also really want to enjoy ‘dating’ and have a chance to miss each other too!

Katie

And Katie answered with: “Not an option as he’s been in prison a prolonged time overseas he would have declined to move here, but if that would have been an option we would have absolutely preferred that.”

Whilst a third said: “Good for you making sure you take it slowly to ensure it’s right for both of you.”

And Katie replied: “Thank you!

“I also really want to enjoy ‘dating’ and have a chance to miss each other too! If we jump straight in and get married and live together and move it’s like we missed that step you know?”
