Christmas traffic chaos expected with millions hitting roads amid 80mph winds

Times is running out to squeeze in Christmas shopping, driving roughly 23,000,000 people to the roads across Britain today.

One of the busiest days of the Christmas period lands just as 80mph winds batter parts of the UK.

Winds could disrupt rail and bus services in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England where the Met Office has issued yellow wind warnings.

They are expected to last until Sunday night.
