Liam Payne's Friend Claims Singer Almost Died Several Times, Defends Himself from Abandonment Charge
Liam Payne‘s friend Roger Nores has been accused of abandoning the singer before his fatal fall in October 2024 and now he’s speaking out to defend himself.
Nores filed new legal documents in Argentina in which he claims that Payne was “close to death” multiple times in recent years.
He wrote in the documents, “I was a friend who loved him very much, who helped him selflessly in everything I could, who spent my own money to help him, and even then it was not enough. I do not consider that I deserve the accusation that is being leveled at me.”
The documents, obtained by Rolling Stone, include in-depth details about what allegedly happened to Liam over the years.

Roger claimed that Liam was hospitalized for three days in Milan in September 2023 and “suffered from a severe intoxication that left him close to death.”
“Because of his addictions, Payne continued to attend rehab centers of his own free will in an attempt to overcome them. Unfortunately, these treatments were not successful and his addiction worsened as he began to use harder drugs, such as heroin,” the statement added.
Roger also claimed that Liam was hospitalized again two more times in late 2023 while in London because of “high levels of intoxication.”
“Professionals had to resort to resuscitation maneuvers to save his life, without his family or friends being able to do anything to avoid these situations or help him,” he said.
Roger claimed that Liam went to rehab in Spain in March 2024, but he left the treatment center early and had a near overdose a month later where he needed to be resuscitated again. He said, “Liam suffered a new relapse in his addiction, so he was again taken to the hospital in serious condition, and the professionals had to resort to resuscitation maneuvers to save his life.”
Eventually, Liam went to the United States to seek treatment and then stayed away from drugs during the summer, but Roger suspected that he was using drugs again in August 2024.
Roger sent an email to Liam‘s father to express his concern. In the email, he wrote, “I hope you can bring professional doctors to check on his health regularly as soon as possible as I did while he was out in the US. I am going to stay fully out of the picture and disconnected from now on and I wish you all the best with Liam’s health and career.”
Roger claims that when he left Liam on the day that he died, the singer seemed to be fine and was “greeting fans.” He places blame on hotel staff instead.
“If Liam had not been brought into the room by force, and had been left in the lobby and a doctor had been called while they saw him convulsing, none of this would have happened,” he wrote in the documents.
In other Liam news, an eyewitness recently shared details about what happened at the hotel on the day of the singer’s untimely passing.
