Tesla has recalled almost 700,000 of its vehicles including the Cybertruck, Model 3 and Model Y.

The automotive company founded and owned by Elon Musk is recalling 694,304 of its 2024 Cybertruck, 2017 to 2015 Model 3 and 2020 to 2025 Model Y, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) letter on Thursday.

It cites issues with the tire pressure monitoring and regulating systems.

‘The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire
pressure,’ states the letter.

‘Driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of a crash.’

No deaths, crashes or injuries have been reported so far.

Tesla is offering a free software update to correct the problem.

Letters to vehicle owners are set to be mailed on February 15, 2025. Owners can also contact Tesla through its customer service line.

It is the latest recall that Tesla has done this year, and the seventh for its Cybertruck. Last month, 2,400 Cybertrucks were called back.

In July, Tesla recalled 1.85million vehicles that could fail to detect an unlatched hood while in motion due to a software issue.

Two months before that, Tesla recalled more than 125,000 vehicles of four different models over the seat belts.

And in February, the automaker recalled more than 2million vehicles because safety warning signals were showing up in a smaller font size.

Tesla has accounted for 21% of all vehicle recalls in the US in the first three quarters of 2024, according to BizzyCar.

Luckily for Tesla owners, most of the problems were fixed through software updates not requiring the vehicles to be taken for in-person evaluations.

Despite the hiccups, Tesla in October announced that it plans to produce new models including some that are more affordable, and will being making them in the first half of 2025.
