The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 20th December) Leeds make audacious approach for Kelleher

0

Good Morning. It's Friday 20th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Leeds make audacious approach for Kelleher

Multiple articles, including the Liverpool Echo are reporting that Leeds have made an audacious approach for Reds shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher. The Republic of Ireland International ace has been a part of the Liverpool set up for almost a decade, and has long established himself as Alisson's understudy. The prospect of playing week in, week out for a club the size of Leeds will certainly give the 26yo food for thought, as will his increase in salary. He currently earns £10,000 per week, three times less than Karl Darlow!

The news comes on the back of speculation linking Arsenal with Illan Meslier to replace Neto (on loan from Wolves) as David Raya's understudy at the Emirates. Leeds can expect to recoup £10m for Meslier, but may need to find over double that amount to persuade Arne Slot to part with Kelleher; but with just under 18 months left on his contract, Leeds may have the upper hand when to comes to negotiating.

Leeds tracking MLS star

Leeds are reportedly keen on securing the talents of Diego Luna, a versatile attacking midfielder who has been making waves this year in the MLS. The 21 year old applies his trade with Real Salt Lake, who play in the Western Conference. He was recently named the 2024 MLS Young Player of the Year, recognizing his 8 goals and 12 assists. He is of Mexican descent, but has been representing the United States since U20 level, breaking into the full side earlier this year.

He has distinctive (and distasteful) tattoo's all over his body, including the word hate imprinted across his larynx (perhaps an indication of his impoverished childhood). This will not endear him to the more family friendly among us, especially if entering the pitch with young mascots. There's no doubting his talents; a fee of just £4m could turn out to be a steal if Luna continuous to impress.
