‘I will be walking out with…’: Ravichandran Ashwin replies to Virat Kohli’s remarks before Boxing day Test in Melbourne
Legendary cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin replied to Virat Kohli’s emotional retirement message to him, as he assure the star batter that he will be there when Kohli bats for the team in Australia. In an emotional post after Ashwin’s retirement on December 19, Kohli praised Ashwin and called him a ‘legend of Indian cricket’ and hailed him for all the contributions he has made in Test cricket.
As the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series is levelled 1-1 and the third Test resulted in a draw, the stakes are going to be high for the Boxing day Test. In the response to Kohli, Ashwin provided him with some words to encourage him for the fourth Test match.
“I’ve played with you for 14 years and when you told me today you’re retiring, it made me a bit emotional and the flashbacks of all those years playing together came to me. I’ve enjoyed every bit of the journey with you ash, your skill and match winning contributions to Indian cricket are second to none, and you will always and always be remembered as a legend of Indian cricket. Wish you nothing but the best in your life with your family and everything else that it unfolds for you. With massive respect and lots of love to you and your close ones. Thanks for everything buddy,” Kohli said in his tribute to Ashwin on X.
“Thanks buddy! Like I told you, I will be walking out with you to bat at the MCG,” Ashiwn replied.
The friendship between Ashwin and Kohli kicked off in 2011ODI World Cup. The long years of both of them in the same squad is a prime example of respect for each other and shared success.
