Tottenham player ratings vs Man United in Carabao Cup

Fraser Forster – Did very well to save a Joshua Zirkzee header at full stretch, but unnecessarily gave the ball away moments later to gift the away side a goal. Then he single-handedly allowed United another goal when his kick was charged down by Amad Diallo. Postecoglou has to adapt his tactics to compensate for Forster’s play with the ball at his feet because he could have cost Spurs a victory tonight. 2

Pedro Porro – Good on the ball, but his positional play was poor. His long-range effort led to Tottenham’s first goal, but he left far too much space behind him. 5.5

Radu Dragusin – Defended well and is unlucky to be part of a backline which conceded three goals. 7

Archie Gray – Another good performance from Gray. He did play a pass back to Forster which did not need to go backwards, but Forster is responsible for the error which followed. 6.5

Djed Spence – A lively performance from Spence on his less favoured side of the pitch. He got an assist for Solanke’s second goal and looked so positive going forward. Ange, why has he not been playing? 7.5

Pape Matar Sarr – Picked up a booking in the first half for a foul on Bruno Fernandes, but played okay overall. 6.5

Yves Bissouma – Won the ball back a number of times and had his best performance for a good few games. However, he did almost score an own goal and should have been stronger when Jonny Evans scored United’s third goal from a corner. 7

Dejan Kulusevski – Doubled Tottenham’s lead early in the second half. This man always has a part to play for Spurs. 7.5

James Maddison – Won a few free kicks, but will miss Tottenham’s next Carabao Cup game for a foul he committed just before being subbed for Bergvall, after Spurs lost control of the game. 5.5

Heung-min-Son – Helped Tottenham’s attacking flow in the first half, but went missing for much of the second half. Then he scored directly from a corner, which probably wasn’t intentional, but they all count. 7

Dominic Solanke – Scored Tottenham’s opening goal with a superb finish into the bottom right corner. His second was even better, running in behind and beating two defenders. 9

Substitutes:

Lucas Bergvall – Came on at a difficult point in the match and put pressure on the goalkeeper when Son scored from his corner. Despite appeals, he did not impede the goalkeeper. Vicario has faced much worse without the refereeing calling for a foul. 7

Brennan Johnson – Played the last few minutes. After some recent underwhelming performances, he’ll be eager to get back in the starting lineup. N/A

Sergio Reguilon – A rare appearance at the end of the game for Tottenham’s forgotten man. N/A
